The always great fall fishing season is upon us and it’s time to get out on the water and enjoy all the great fall fishing opportunities our mountain lakes have to offer. Rainbow and brown trout, bass, catfish, bluegill, crappie and carp have been gaining weight all summer long, and once the cool fall nights start the water temperature dropping, the big fish will be up near the surface feeding heavily in preparation for winter. When you are targeting trout, the mountain’s favorite fish, fall is a great time to cast or troll lures. If you like to catch brown trout, fall is a great time to fish a crawler/Power Egg combo, a gob of drifted Power Trout Worms under a bobber or casting or trolling an original trout pattern Rapala. Once you have taken a few quick pictures and it’s time to release the fish, hold it horizontally and upright in the water and gently move the fish forward and backwards until it swims away on its own to fight again another day. read more
