Bass anglers are still finding success on Lake Oroville, reported Fil Torres at Oroville Outdoors. A new California record for a five-fish limit of smallmouth bass was set in late September on Trinity Lake during a Red Bluff Anglers tournament, reported Jim Clarkson of Raptor Rod Works in Chico. Although local hunters see relatively few of the species, the California Fish and Game Commission has increased the daily bag limit for canvasback ducks from one per day to two per day statewide. A great assortment of raffle and auction prizes will be available, including rods and reels, wildlife art, and even a special “live bait” bass fishing trip on Clear Lake with guide Ben Williams. The BBAC fundraising activities go to support the tournament release boat and planting Florida-strain largemouth bass on Lake Oroville. The club welcomes new members, and conducts monthly tournaments while working on various fisheries-related projects including the Chico Hooked on Fishing kid’s event. read more
