My bass fishing has mostly been with top water baits like deer hair poppers fished with a fly rod or ultra-light spinning with Assassins. Boat partner, Rick Alexander, suggested we give up on the trout and try for bass on the dredger piles at the north end of Trinity Lake. I learned that just as my Assassin won’t work with 20 pound line, fishing tubes or worms on the bottom with 4 pound test won’t work either. To successfully catch bass in the clear, deep water of our local bass lakes, you need a highly visible 8-10 pound test line on a medium rod. read more
