The board approved a 2007 Wisconsin waterfowl season structure that includes an increase in the canvasback duck bag to two birds, elimination of the early closure provision for the exterior zone of the regular Canada goose season, and opening day shooting hours beginning at 9 a. The board also adopted a statewide nontoxic shot requirement when hunting rail, snipe and moorhens beginning in 2007, and beginning in 2008 hunters will be required to use nontoxic shot when hunting mourning doves on DNR lands. Fish deep weed edges with small leeches and jigs with plastic tubes and add a wax worm if fish are finicky. Crawlers on floating Lindy rigs, stick baits, popping frogs, and spinner baits are all producing good action. Walleye action is erratic, with decent catches on leeches and crawlers fished on weed edges and in weed pockets. Smallmouth action is good on the flowages and larger rivers with small plastics fished in wood near deep water areas. read more
