SOMBA K’E/YELLOWKNIFE - For the more than 50 Grandin College alumni that gathered in Yellowknife the May 17 to 18 weekend to celebrate Father Jean Pochat, the weekend was full of laughter and tears and food. Grandin College alumni Dawna O’Brien, left, and Wilfe Tripe de Roche, right, joke around at a Grandin College reunion held in Yellowknife May 17 to 18. The event was held to celebrate Father Jean Pochat’s 80th birthday and his investment into the Order of Canada two years ago. For 10 years, Father Pochat was the head administrator of Grandin College, which consisted of one boys’ and one girls’ residence in Fort Smith from 1960 to 1970. read more
