Seasonal lakes closing today include Carlisle, Davis Lake at Morton, Plummer Lake, and Fort Borst Pond, along with Northwestern Reservoir, Rowland, and Spearfish lakes in the Columbia Gorge. There is still plenty of trout action on the all-season lakes such as South County Pond, Swofford Pond, Riffe Lake, Mayfield Lake, Silver Lake, and a lot of others. The fine weather of the past 10 days — which is changing to cooler and wetter as we speak — has jump-started trout fishing in a lot of spots. Fishing on the Cowlitz, Lewis, and Kalama has been weak for several days and won’t perk up a lot until fresh steelhead and spring chinook begin to arrive. The Calawah was too low for good fishing, but four bank anglers released a pair of wild steelhead. A big crowd on the Lower Hoh — 125 anglers checked — landed a total of 51 big winter runs. read more
