Anglers who catch their limit of one spring chinook in the Willamette and Columbia rivers may continue to fish for steelhead, according to the Oregon State Police and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Saturday, March 1, is the first day of the one-salmon rule for spring chinook fishing on the Willamette River and Multnomah Channel. The Columbia River is closed to salmon and steelhead fishing, but will reopen March 24 through April 4 from Buoy 10 to the west power lines on Hayden Island and March 16 to April 30 from the same power lines to Bonneville Dam. The daily spring chinook limit on the Columbia will be one fish, same as on the Willamette, and anglers can also continue to fish for steelhead after landing a hatchery chinook. read more
