Fishing for steelhead has been slow on the Washington side of the lower Columbia, but pikeminnow fishing has been good and catches of chinook has been improving in the Buoy 10 area. Salmon fishing has been fair in Marine Area 9 (Admiralty Inlet) and Marine Area 10 (Seattle-Bremerton) with boats averaging about a fish per boat, said Mike Chamberlain of Ted Sports Center in Lynnwood. In the Tacoma area, salmon fishing has been slow to fair and about the same in Hood Canal. Marine Area 2 (Westport-Ocean Shores) has been producing good catches of chinook and coho. Marine Area 1 (Ilwaco) also has been producing good catches of salmon, but the area closes to salmon retention Sunday.
